On this page, we’ve invited our staff team to share a bit about themselves – including a photo either of themselves or of something they love/a hobby of theirs.
Carolyn Story – Chief Executive
Carrie is our Chief Executive, with overall responsibility for all AoR operations. She is accountable to a small Board made up of volunteers elected from the AoR membership, and works closely with them on longer term strategy and direction. Carrie works officially 2 days a week for the AoR but can be contacted on her non-AoR office number at other times. Outside work Carrie loves cooking, walking the coastal path in Devon, growing unusual house plants, and aims to grow most of her own vegetables (rabbits, slugs and caterpillars permitting!)
Sarah-Jane Trask – Head of Operations
Sarah-Jane joined the company in early 2019. She is responsible for the daily management of the operation of the head office in Taunton, Sales and Health and Safety. She manages the processes and procedures within the office to help the staff deliver the best quality service possible to all of our members. Sarah-Jane likes everything to be super-organised and loves nothing better than a good list. Outside of work she loves to be outdReflexology practitioner trainingoors and is usually accompanied by her dog, Daphne. Sarah-Jane also does volunteer work for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
Vicci Mackenzie – Head of Membership and Social Media
Vicci joined the Association in June 2003 and has worked in the membership department ever since. Recently, she has taken over our Social Media alongside Jo Greenslade and hopes to share the AoR’s passion for all things reflexology. She loves reflexology, lists, reading and having treatments.
Tracey Smith – Head of Research and Reflexology Support:
Tracey has been a reflexologist for over 20 years. Prior to becoming a reflexologist she was scientist She works remotely from her home in London and is a member of our reflexology team. She supports the members though the advice line and Facebook community. Tracey is also very active at getting reflexology better respected in the wider world, by giving talks at conferences both at home and abroad and representing reflexology at various groups, including the Parliamentary group for Integrated Health.
Sally Earlam FMAR. BSc. PGCE (retired RGN) – Head of Training and Education:
Sally is a fully qualified nurse and teacher and trained as a reflexologist in 1999. She then went on to teach the Diploma in Reflexology for 9 years in London. Sally joined the AoR in 2012 and is responsible for looking at ways to protect standards in training through liaising with awarding bodies and tutors. She looks after our CPD providers, Affiliated Schools and is part of the AoR Reflexology Group so you may well get to chat to her on the advice line. Multi-tasking is an essential skill!
Helen Turier – Head of Community Integration:
Helen qualified as a reflexologist in 2007 after receiving treatments herself for several years to manage a medical condition exacerbated by stress. Her background is in nursing, and qualifying as Registered General Nurse in 1987 in Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. Helen is passionate about all things twins and multiple births, as she is a mum of twin girls and was previously been Head of Support for a national children’s charity. She is also passionate about facilitating good health and wellbeing for her clients and working towards seeing reflexology integrated more deeply into the health and wellbeing of the nation. Helen spends her weekends gardening, walking her dog and helping look after 20+ ponies and donkeys at a local animal sanctuary.
Kathy Fear – Finance Manager:
Kathy has been the AoR’s Finance manager for over two years and works Mondays and Thursdays. She is the go to person for payroll and pensions; between them, she and her ‘partner in finance’, Brenda, are the accounts department. If she seems engrossed at her desk, she’s probably lost in a large complicated spreadsheet and has been known to get very excited over balancing her figures. Outside of work she loves spending time with her family and Louis the Labrador; that is, when she’s not singing soprano in several Somerset choirs.
Kate Mulliss – Education and Project Coordinator:
Kate is the point of contact for all Area Groups issues. She also mans the Reflexology Advice Line when at work on Mondays and Wednesdays and is jointly responsible for assessing AoR membership applications. Kate has been involved with the accreditation process of the Advanced Reflexology Modules and is involved in the AoR Affiliated Schools. Kate is also passionate about all things aromatherapy related having trained as an aromatherapist rather scarily over a quarter of a century ago !
Jo Greenslade – Membership Manager
Jo joined the Association in July 2004, and has worked in most areas but mainly in the membership department alongside Vicci. She was also involved in the setting up and running of the AoR sales department. Recently, Jo has joined the social media team and is looking forward to her new role.
Laura Franzen – AoR Publications Editor:
Laura joined the AoR staff team in October 2008. She is responsible for the AoR’s professional magazine, Reflexions and the design of AoR products and publications. She has had increasing involvement with the AoR website for a number of years and is currently project leader for the new AoR website. Laura is a qualified reflexologist and is part of the Reflexology Group advisory group. She loves learning, talking to the members, spending time with her husband, dog and guinea pig, and – as in the photo here – exploring and learning about ancient places!
Brenda Wilson – Finance Administrator:
Brenda joined the AoR in April 2016. She is responsible for the day to day running of the accounts department including bank reconciliations, payments and purchase ledger. She is a champion of fairness and clear communication in the office.
Brenda works two days per week and is always cheerful and helpful.
Cathy Lawless – T&E Administrator:
Cathy has been with the AoR since August 2018 dealing mainly with AoR accredited CPD courses and monthly newsletters. She also assists with the membership renewals, sales and info enquiries. Cathy’s background is in College administration and she spent many years working at Bridgwater and Taunton College. Cathy loves spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Bronwen Packham – Administrator:
Bronwen joined the AoR in June 2019 and has already become a valued member of the team. With a background in Stage Management she brings a wide range of skills and is an excellent organiser. She particularly enjoys working out and implementing new systems and processes.
Bron loves spending time with her horses, dogs and family.
