AoR: Influencing for our Members

February 2024 has been a very busy month for external influencing group meetings.

Tracey Smith (FMAR) attends these meetings on behalf of the AoR, and here presents an update on the latest news.

World Reflexology Consortium (WRC)

This group consists of 4 international reflexology membership organisations: the AoR, the Reflexology Association of Canada, Reflexology New Zealand and the Reflexology Association of Australia.

The aim of the group is to work with mutual respect, cooperation, and shared best practice to enhance the practice and development of reflexology across the globe.

This month’s meeting was centred around reciprocal agreements with the intention of making the global movement of reflexologists less challenging in the future.

Integrated Medical Alliance (IMA)

This group is a representational group of complementary therapies organisations, including some of the statutory regulated professions. We are working together with the College of Medicine to enhance awareness within the Social Prescribing Sector.

Our discussions in February, centred around a forming a two-year plan for moving forward with the group aims.

Integrated Health Collaboration (IHC)

The Integrated Healthcare Collaborative (IHC) is a collection of leading professional associations and stakeholders within complementary, traditional and natural healthcare. These associations are working together on common areas of interest to increase access to these therapies, promote greater integration with conventional Western medicine, and improve patient outcomes.

Two major discussions this month were around the planned formation of a new all-party parliamentary group (APPG) soon after the coming general election and the new influx of MP’s, as well as the promotion of Sustainable health day on the 6th of April.

These groups meet regularly, with different frequencies across the year. The next planned IHC and WRC meetings are in April.
