Leading the way to excellence – our new Fellow Members!
The AoR take great pride in our members’ ability to innovate and inspire. To reflect this, we have created a new class of membership called a Fellow Membership for members who have made a significant contribution to the field of reflexology and who have also demonstrably raised the profile of the AoR through their contributions to the field.
This class of membership is the highest that the AoR offer, and is something that you too could be a part of! The criteria are that you must:
a. Have been in full membership for five years or more and either:
b. Have made a significant contribution to reflexology outside their business or organisation (e.g. in the Association of Reflexologists, or in the field of reflexology, education, training or research)
Or
c. Have made a significant contribution to reflexology profession (by papers, books, lectures or contributions to the work of committees, study groups etc).
Members who have already been awarded the Fellowship Membership class are:
Jane Steare is a qualified Reflexologist with 20 years experience treating a wide range of conditions including fertility and pre- and post-natal reflexology and palliative care for cancer sufferers. I qualified as a reflexologist in 1998 and have worked in private practice, and in a hospital environment, working with a multidisciplinary team for nine years. Throughout this time I have continued my professional development with a number of postgraduate courses. Most recently I completed a teacher training qualification. I can be contacted at shrelaxzone@aol.com.
During and after her training Siobhan Elliot worked as a reflexologist in a day centre for mental health clients. She is an experienced Maternity Reflexologist. Siobhan founded and runs the Egham & District Area Group, which is active in raising the profile of reflexology in the local community through charity fundraising and other events. She can be contacted at siobhan@eghamreflexology.co.uk.
AoR Training was one of my better lifetime decisions! Coming to the profession late in life is not a disadvantage; it has real benefits...you have life experience & empathy & often an appreciation of workplace stress first hand! My aim is to bring reflexology to all working with mainstream medical practices in a true partnership at all levels. I can be contacted at jrhugh.cloudmaker35@virgin.net.
My first introduction to complementary therapies was on meeting my wife, Marie (an Aromatherapist), and I was blown away by how much good she did for her clients. I wanted to learn a therapy to complement hers, so we could work alongside each other – I chose Reflexology. I qualified in 2000 and am now a full time Reflexologist and Principal of Jubilee College. I have also been made a member of the Royal Society of Medicine and I have given reflexology ‘live’ on BBC radio. Reflexology has been the most rewarding career I could ever have imagined. If you are reading this and wondering whether to give it a go – I can wholeheartedly recommend it! I can be contacted at david.wayte@jubileecollege.co.uk
Hi there everyone! I am delighted to have been asked to write a profile for Reflexions, I discovered Reflexology in the mid 1990’s and was inspired by the positive effect on my physical, emotional and spiritual health. I have been practicing reflexology since 2001, I worked at London Bridge Hospital for 5 years with Chemotherapy patients their families and friends, Doctors and Nurses and found the work very rewarding. I also specialized in working with The Elderly at 5 Nursing Homes, (my eldest client is 100 years old!) I have worked at two of the UK’s top Spas also, my background is Sales. I LOVE Reflexology!
My main contribution has been in education, creating and teaching courses and workshops for students and practitioners. I am particularly interested in the subtle energy field of the body and incorporate light touch and subtle body techniques into my treatment sessions. I am a practitioner of Electro-Crystal therapy and Bowen therapy. I can be contacted at marion@indigoblue.waitrose.com.
Rosanna trained in Western reflexology and has been in practice since 1994, and also studied Chinese reflexology (2002), honing her skills with Prof. Hang, Chairman of the China Reflexology Association in Beijing (2004). She came to complementary therapies from a scientific background specialising in the CNS and pain. Most recently she completed Nico Pauly’s nerve reflexology course for pain relief (2009). Rosanna also practises Daoyin Tao, Chinese head, neck and shoulder massage and is a qualified first aid trainer, mainly teaching therapists and healthcare professionals. She practises in London, working alongside general practitioners. She can be contacted at rosanna@handsonfeet.com.
I trained in 2000, reflexology having found me via a pathway of nursing, corporate management and an interest in the esoteric. I fell in love with the therapy (thanks, Viv) and am in awe of the outcomes we achieve. My enthusiasm and excitement for the work brought out my teaching instincts and in 2008, I opened the Anahata School in Lincoln. I am also a full time reflexologist, specialising in Maternity Reflexology (thanks, Susanne) to which I have added HypnoBirthing and in March I train as a Doula – onwards and upwards! Reflexology has led me to an amazing career – to writer and broadcaster as well as hands on therapist. What could it do for you? I can be contacted at glenys.underwood@ntlworld.com.
I am Susanne Enzer. My speciality is Maternity Reflexology, for which I have had a passion throughout the last twenty five years. In recognition for the growing need for lovely, caring and skilful reflexologists to do this work, I am happy to report that I have increased the amount of training that I do. Also I now have three colleagues teaching with me. I can be contacted at susanne_enzer@hotmail.com.
My reflexology journey has taught me a lot about myself and given me enormous resources. My greatest teachers and inspiration have been my patients, and I thank them for the privilege of working with them and learning so much. I qualify as an acupuncturist soon and am excited about marrying both disciplines and about my new journey ahead, feet first! I can be contacted at petatrousdell@btinternet.com.
Cheryl Butler was born and brought up in India, where complementary therapies are a part of Life. Cheryl worked in the computer industry until 1989, in a high powered, stressful job. After 19 years she made the decision to give it all up. The rest is history. Cheryl has been a member since the early 90’s and recently was awarded the status of Fellow. Her hobbies are the great outdoors. Cheryl takes a special interest in Birds, Bats, and Badgers and is not too bad at shooting British longbow (that’s archery for those who don’t know).
I trained with the International School of Reflexology in 1993,and have been practicing ever since in London/Hertfordshire. Special techniques for cancer patients/pregnancy/arthritis are used accordingly. My therapy room is the conservatory overlooking a mature, interesting back garden of the house here in Barnet (Hertfordshire). I can be contacted at dorothy.toseland@hotmail.co.uk.
